About Carol Marie

Carol Marie Gomez was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Peruvian parents, and discovered her passion for music and singing at a young age.  After studying voice and theater throughout her youth, Ms. Gomez began her studies at Florida State University, receiving her Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance.  She performed roles in various FSU productions, including A Little Night Music, L’incoronazione di Poppea, La Traviata, Prince of Players, and Patience.

She continued her studies at Louisiana State University, in pursuit of her Master of Music in Vocal Performance, and made her LSU debut, performing the title role in their Spring production of The Cunning Little Vixen in Czech.  She was also featured as a soloist with the LSU Symphonic Winds band, performing the modern work titled Three Songs for Soprano and Orchestra, composed by Osvaldo Golijov.

This past summer, Ms. Gomez performed the leading role of Rose Maurrant in Varna International Opera Academy’s production of Street Scene.  The performance was the Bulgarian national debut of the piece by American composer Kurt Weill.  Ms. Gomez was previously featured in La Musica Lirica’s summer productions, performing the roles of Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi and Kate Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly.

Earlier this year, Ms. Gomez was a finalist in Mobile Opera’s Madame Rose Scholarship Competition and a semi-finalist in the Young Patronesses of the Opera/Florida Grand Opera National Voice Competition.

Ms. Gomez will be a guest artist in the upcoming season for both the Scottsdale Philharmonic Orchestra and WFM Festival Orchestra.
